Dijon
Dijon, the capital of Burgundy, boasts a wealth of history and culture. The city's UNESCO World Heritage Site historic centre is a maze of cobblestone streets, medieval residences, and iconic monuments.
The Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy is located at the heart of the town. This Renaissance palace, constructed in the 15th century, currently serves as the Musée des Beaux-Arts, displaying a range of artistic works from ancient times to the present day.
Not far from here, the Cathedral of Saint-Bénigne is another must-see monument. Erected in the 12th century, this Romanesque cathedral stands as one of France's largest religious structures.
Dijon boasts a gourmet culture. Burgundian gastronomy is renowned worldwide and the city has numerous restaurants where savouring local specialities such as Dijon mustard, beef bourguignon, and chicken in yellow wine is a must.
